Candle & Melty Care

CANDLE CARE

The first time you burn your candle it is important to burn it for at least 2 hours (and no more than 4 hours) or until the wax pool reaches the side of the jar to prevent tunnelling.

Always trim the wick to about 5mm before re-lighting to ensure that your candle is burning gently. Long wicks can cause excess flame, smoke and leave soot on the jar.

Allow the candle to cool before relighting and before cutting the ball at the end of the wick.

Do not leave your candles unattended, keep them away from drafts, children

and pets and always place candles on a heat-resistant surface.

Your candle is best suited to colder climates and away from sunlight. Sweating and frosting can occur due to the natural properties of the organic coconut wax.

Candles will lose their scent and discolour when placed in direct sunlight; when burning many candles together, place them apart to prevent uneven burning.

Keep the burn pool clean; you may wash your candle gently in cool water. Make sure it is air dried before use.

As your candle is handmade (not factory mass-produced) and has no toxic additives, it can develop an uneven surface and discolouration.

Your candle jar can be reused and make great containers for odds and ends.  Carefully scrape the leftover wax out and the wick tab can be removed by soaking in white spirits for a day or so.

MELTY CARE

As your Melties are handmade (not factory mass-produced) and have no toxic additives, they can develop an uneven surface and discolouration. We consider these ‘imperfections’ a part of the personal, hand-created ‘Darkling’ uniqueness.

Your wax melties do best in colder climates and away from sunlight.
Sweating and frosting can occur due to the natural properties of soy wax.

Please do not overfill your wax burner.

Use with an unscented or a complimentary fragranced tea light candle.

Never add water to your burner, never move or touch whilst alight.

Please never leave your burner alone and keep it on a heat-resistant surface away from drafts, children and pets.

Your melty jar can be reused and make great containers for odds and ends.
